Welcome to Morton Fire Department Local #4952
The IAFF Local #4952 is made up of 12 full-time paramedics, as well as, 6 full-time firefighters. In addition to the full-time staff, the Morton FD has about 40 paid-on-call firefighters making this a combination department. The volunteer fire department was founded in 1884 and the paramedic service began in 1989 with 6 full-time paramedics. In February 2025, the first sworn firefighters were added. Our page is primarily used to promote what is going on with our Union Local and to provide public education in areas of EMS, Fire Service, and public safety. This organization also seeks to promote a culture of giving back. This is done through charitable activities that include donating both money and time to causes we believe in and to help local first responders in need. By being positive role models and being active in this community we hope to encourage young people to consider choosing a career as a Paramedic Firefighter.
